Stylist's Note
In the fall of 1940, the future poet, composer and translator Nina Cassian meets on the banks of the Jewish High School for Girls the one who will become artist, art historian and teacher, Yvonne Hasan.
Then follows a friendship that will last more than 7 decades and will go through 4 changes of political regime in Romania. ”
I’ve found all these things this year, from the documentary "Distance between me and me", made by Mona Nicoara and Dana Bunescu, following an idea by Ada Solomon, and from the retrospective exhibition opened at MNAC, curated by Adrian Buga, with works from private collections or from the Ada and Alecu Solomon collection (daughter and son of the artist Yvonne Hasan).
Thus, the two friends "met" again this year, twice: once in the spring - the film was released in cinemas in March and the exhibition was released in April.
The second meeting is in the pages of volume II of the anthology "Nesupusele" (Universe Publishing House), which appeared this November.
It is the year of Cassian - Hasan and I pay tribute to them with these books of dreams, diaries and recipes, notes or poems or simply drawings.
Random meetings are also my meetings with friends and everyone I meet and create beautiful things together.
Random meetings are the ones that dress us for life.
