Lana is a very young Romanian fashion designer, a recent graduate and currently researching for her PhD in Arts and Fashion. You can consider Lana an artist manifesting her beliefs through fashion.
After she had published many awarded poetry books during her childhood and teenage years, Lana showcased her artistic manifesto in two design creations that took by storm blogs and newspapers around the world: The Facebook Dress (included by the notorious site TrendHunter.com in the 2012 Top Trends) and The Etno Dress.
With 8 distinct collections in her portfolio till now consisted of "wearable opinions"- as she describes her clothes-, Lana has won the jury's appreciation in various design competitions: Puma Creativity Award 2012 and Young Creative Chevrolet Award-Romania 2012, etc.
La Naive collection is, in fact, her Master Studies graduation and means her first collaboration with exquisite Romanian contemporary artists, from the surrealist painter Adrian Preda to the quirky illustrator Irina Broboana. Besides, the clothes' concept spins around the trompe l'oeil effect, a perfect opportunity for her to play with the works of "Surrealist Pope" Rene Magritte, of Rousseau-Douanier (whose exotic painting now contains, in her remix, a traditional Romanian family wearing ethnic costumes), the ethereal Iris flowers of Van Vogh and the floral work of innovative Modernist Georgia O'Keeffe, a sort of textile hommages and an attempt to put their creations in a new, surprising perspective. Also, she made a "mise en abime" with herself wearing the well-known ethnic dress from the previous collection and, thus, created a narcissistic pattern on the surface of a shirt, underlining the "tautology of the artist" idea and the ironic effect of re-cycling your own ideas.
