MARIA FILIPESCU
She studied clothing design at the Tonitza National Arts Highschool and then, attended the Nicolae Grigorescu Arts Academy, the glass/metal-jewelry department. She turned towards jewelry after seeing an ornament expo in Mexic, during highschool, where everything fascinated her, starting from the technical data, to the color, light and volume principles. Since then, she tried expressing herself through jewelry, sensing that she can transform them from accesories meant to decorate clothing articles to defining pieces for the personality of the person wearing them.
She took part in „Pret-a-porter”, „Pasarela” festival, „Autor” fair, two editions of the Morpho plastics salon, and had clothing design and jewelry presentations at multiple events. She collaborated with theater troupes and launched personal collections. And on www.molecule-f.com she is presenting her Cronos collection pieces, having the time as main theme and inspired from the complex mechanisms with which time is being measured. The pieces that compose this collection are being elaborated out of authentic watches’ elements, associated with satin, lace, silk, and also fabrics such as brass, silver, or pearls. And the theme seams never to wear out, because the watch mechanisms with spectacular layout cand be continuously re-interpreted through aparently incompatible fabrics tied together.
